The buildup to the new Star Wars films have been more than intense. Disney marketed the living hell out of the series as a whole, and the retail space has taken full advantage of the series’ resurgence in popularity. From household items to video games and toys, Star Wars is everywhere. Luckily for us, that also means it’s found it’s way into VR, and The Industrial Light and Magic Experience Lab is looking to bring it in a big way.

Through an experience the company is calling Trials on Tatooine, the company is giving viewers the opportunity to wield a light saber of their own while meeting iconic characters such as R2D2 and CP30. The HTC Vive used in the experience allows for users to utilize the hand controllers that come with the headset to take the experience to a whole new level. The game will take place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, and will give players the opportunity to study under Luke Skywalker himself. If that doesn’t sound exciting, I don’t know what does.
The opportunity will be taking place at Star Wars Celebration, a festival occurring at London’s Excel Exhibition Center from the 15th to 17th of July. At the event there will be a variety of exciting opportunities to attend celebrating the Star Wars legacy, including a panel from a list of the movie’s cast and producers, so you’ll want to attend if you’re in the area.
There have also been rumors of a Star Wars: Battlefront experience coming to Playstation VR in the near future, so you’ll want to check that out when it releases. Overall, there are a ton of Star Wars experiences happening in the next couple of months, all leading up the the new Rouge Squadron film in December.
