You may have heard of the Disaster Report series, famous for its awful voice acting and long-lasting franchise which dates back to 2002. The newest game in the franchise, Disaster Report 4 Plus: Summer Memories was originally slated to launch on Playstation 3 for use with the Playstation Move controllers, but was re-announced under a different developer when Sony launched the Playstation 4. The game has been in development for quite a while now, and it seems that the new developers have opted to bring it into the future with the launch of the Playstation VR virtual reality headset.

Like many of the other Disaster Report games, players must try their hardest to survive as natural disaster wreck havoc on the urban environments of today’s world. The player must make their was through collapsing buildings in the midst of a massive earthquake, using objects around them as cover to escape on time. While the title is played in third person view on the Playstation 4, players who opt for the virtual reality version will have to escape in a first person point of view, which only adds to the realism and adrenaline pumping rush of the game.

While many other games try to immerse players inside open worlds with large explorable areas, seating them inside such a confined space with a realistic disaster seems like something that would be more thrilling than many titles available today.

There has been no word on whether the title will make its way to the US or Europe, but it is set to launch in Japan on the Playstation 4 and Playstation VR sometime next month. This is a Playstation exclusive title as well, so if you were hoping to get a taste on your Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, you are sadly out of luck on that front.

Is this a game you would like to see come to your region? Have you played other titles in the series?

Let us know.
