Marvel Studios has been absolutely killing it ever since Iron Man released back in 2008, with over a dozen films and TV shows blowing up the industry in that time. And while the studio might be most well known for it’s blockbuster flicks, they’ve just recently expressed interest in the virtual reality space, guaranteeing some incredible content in the future.
In a recent interview with Gamespot, senior vice president of games and innovation Jay Ong mentioned that the company is really excited for the possibilities presented by virtual reality technology, and that there are ‘absolutely VR projects in the works right now’.
Ong said that the company had opted to look pretty deeply into the possibilities of the technology near the end of 2016, and was pretty excited with what it saw. He specified that they didn’t want to produce something just for the novelty of it however, but rather something really special that will help define the industry’s future.
There are quite a lot of amazing possibilities present here, especially for those who are particularly interested in super heroes. While a lot of games already offer players special abilities they wouldn’t have in real life, Marvel has an entire catalog of super heroes and powers that fans would die to be able to play as in a virtual setting.
Would you be particularly interested in a Marvel game for virtual reality? I could personally see something like Spider Man being a huge hit, and I can’t wait to see what the company has in store for the future.
