Rogue One: A Star Wars Story tells the tale of how the Rebel Alliance stole the plans for the Death Star battle station, just before the events of A New Hope. Now, a quick 360 degree video from Samsung Australia, meant to promote its Gear VR headset, tells the tale of just how the rebels found out about the Death Star in the first place.

The video is called Rogue One: Recon, and puts the viewer inside an X-Wing fighter as it and other rebel pilots discover the Death Star for the first time, and still under construction. We won’t give away what happens next, but let’s just say it’s not totally unexpected. considering the content of the movie itself.

While it is best to view Rogue One: Recon while wearing a Gear VR or other mobile virtual reality headset, you can still watch the video on a web browser for a slightly less immersive experience. It’s too bad this clip is so short (less than two minutes) as we would be interested in seeing this part of the Star Wars canon fleshed out more.
