Asus launches 3 new VR-ready gaming desktops

4

There are already a plethora of “VR-Ready” gaming desktops and laptops available on the market, but many of them are “just good enough”. It’s not too often that a company goes completely balls to the wall to give users the ultimate in computer hardware. Now, Asus has come along to introduce 3 new desktop solutions for various tiers of the desktop gamer.

Asus G11CD

1

Starting at the low end of the high-end, Asus is introducing a more traditional looking tower PC with the ROG G11CD. Though it may look similar to your traditional Compaqs of old, it packs a much, much bigger punch. The specs of the aforementioned desktop are as follows:

  • 6th generation Intel core i7 processor
  • NVIDIA GTX 1080 GPU
  • 4-32GB of DDR4 RAM
  • Up to 3TB HDD Storage
  • Up to 512GB M.2 SSD Storage
  • RGB LED Side Panel

That’s a lot to pack into a pre-configured desktop PC like this, and you better believe it will be VR-Ready. The GTX 1080 absolutely blows the Vive/Rift minimum specifications out of the water, so if you don’t mind the relatively average look, this desktop could be worth a look.

You can pick up a specked out Asus G11CD for $1,799

ROG G20CB

2

Moving up the line a bit, we get the slightly more aggressively designed ROG G20CB. This desktop looks a little more “Alien” than the G11CD, and packs a HUGE punch into a small form factor. Coming in with another 6th generation i7 processor and GTX 1080 like it’s much larger G11CD cousin, the ROG G20CB can push just as many pixels at a noticeably smaller size. Let’s get to specs:

  • 6th generation Intel Core i7 processor
  • NVIDIA GTX 1080 GPU
  • 4-32GB of DDR4 RAM
  • Up to 3TB HDD Storage
  • Up to 1TB M.2 SSD Storage
  • RGB lighting effects with Music Sync

If you’ve been looking for  an explosively powerful desktop PC in an extremely small form factor, the ROG G20CB is definitely worth a look.

ROG GT51CA

3

At the absolute top end of the Asus ROG lineup, we have the ROG GT51CA. This absolute beast of a desktop packs the highest end Core i7 6700k CPU, along with (2) full-fledged GTX 1080 graphics cards. The chassis also includes a turbo mode that overclocks the CPU to 4.6GHz in a pinch and should be awesome for those that want more power on a whim. There should be absolutely nothing this thing can’t handle, even with high-quality 4k gaming making its way into the market. The GT51CA features arguably the most aggressive design up the 3 in the lineup, with a futuristic space-like design and RGB lighting effects.

The GT51CA features arguably the most aggressive design up the 3 in the lineup, with a futuristic space-like design and RGB lighting effects. What is your opinion of Asus’ aggressively designed desktop series? VR should be no match for any of these PC’s, so if overkill is your middle name, go ahead and check these out.
