With the consumer version of the Oculus Rift already shipping out, you may be tempted to retire the DK2 hardware to the top shelf, but it seems the kit is perfectly capable of running the Oculus Home software and consequently access to a ton of games and apps.
While Oculus Home isn’t recommended on the Oculus Rift DK2, it seems to run perfectly fine on the Dk2 using the step-by-step guide, which can be accessed by visiting this link on a PC. Just be sure to uninstall the DK2 runtime version before starting to avoid any hiccups during the setup process.
Oculus Home on DK2
With the setup complete, the DK2 had no problems browsing and downloading free and paid content in Oculus Home with immediate access to games and apps using the wired controller. Everything besides the launch title EVE: Valkyrie is available for download right now via Oculus Home, including Lucky’s Tale, Farlands, Henry, Lost, Jaunt VR, Oculus Video, Oculus Photo, Colosse: A Story in Virtual Reality, Oculus Dreamdeck. You’ll get a warning thrown up highlighting that you’re using a DK2 unit and the standard disclaimer that the experience may not be optimal but things seem to work just fine at the moment.
So what are you waiting for? Grab that DK2 and hit this link to get Oculus Home.
