Google is continuing to promote its Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones and its Daydream View VR headset in new ways. This week, it was revealed that the company will sponsor GoodFest, which will host five music festivals in the US, and the new hardware products from Google will be used during those events.
According to VentureBeat, the Pixel and Daydream sponsorship of GoodFest is the result of a new partnership between Google and Good, a media firm that wants to address important social issues. Each of the GoodFest music festivals will be donating portions of their money to a specific cause. The first GoodFest will be held in New York City on November 29, and will continue in New Orleans on December 9 and in Seattle on December 12. Two more cities, San Francisco and Los Angeles, will hold their own GoodFest shows but there’s no date yet for those events.
So where do the Pixel phones and the Daydream View fit into this? GoodFest says it will film the music festivals in VR, and that footage will be made available for owners of the Daydream View headset. In addition, the Pixel phones will be used to capture photos and behind-the-scenes content from the events, in an effort to show the low-light capabilities of its cameras.
