Hitman Go is one of the most popular mobile games on the various app stores at the moment and the board-game adaptation of the stealth series is launching on both the Gear VR and Oculus Rift tomorrow.
Instead of a third-person action game that the Hitman series were traditionally structured around, the Hitman Go title is a turn-based strategy game where you have move the assassin around like a piece in a board game, responding to enemy events and live changes in the surroundings.
The board-game Hitman Go has been a huge hit and will now be launching on the Gear VR for $7.99 and Oculus Rift for $9.99 having been optimised for virtual reality. The developer Square Enix notes that the titles will offer relatively the same experience across headsets, but the Rift edition will offer “a 90 FPS game experience with seamless head tracking” hence the higher price.
Combined with the VR optimisation, Hitman Go will also feature 91 different levels and include appearances of scenes from classic Hitman games like Blood Money and Silent Assassin.
