HTC and Meltdown to host “Vive Nights” e-sports tournaments

meltdown-1

While there haven’t been any e-sports created around VR quite yet, we know it’s coming. VR gaming helps to merge professional gaming with professional athletes, as it requires a lot more physical movement and stamina than traditional PC-based e-sports. Now, HTC is trying to make VR tournaments a reality, and has opted to partner with Meltdown, an e-Sports bar chain, to make it happen.

Selected Meltdown locations will be hosting what they are calling “Vive Nights”, a series of events giving players the opportunity to come out and try what HTC has to offer. At the events, there will be free demos for everyone, as well as special tournaments being hosted to see who the superior players are in specified games. Raw Data is one of these titles, and will be played in co-op mode to let players fight for the high score.

We’re really excited about our partnership with Meltdown, which will allow even more people to experience Vive,

says Jon Goddard, who heads VR marketing at HTC Europe.

We understand that Vive is an expensive purchase, and to truly convince people of the possibilities that room-scale VR allows, they have to try it. Not everyone can get to the big gaming conferences, so by partnerships such as this, we’re continuing our mission to make Vive accessible to everyone – from gamers, to tech and entertainment enthusiasts alike.

The events will also feature a variety of prizes for high-scoring players, including but not limited to a full HTC Vive setup, as well as a variety of Raw Data Steam keys. If you’re in the area, this isn’t an event you will want to miss. You might even walk away with a Vive of your own.

The UK series will be taking place as follows:

Meltdown, 342 Caledonian Road, London, N1 1BB

Wednesday, 16th November 2016

Wednesday, 23rd November 2016

Wednesday, 30th November 2016

Wednesday, 7th December 2016

Looking forward to the events? Let us know if you attend. Sounds like quite a bit of fun!

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
