Cinematic VR experiences are quickly becoming a trend in the industry. With major game releases coming out so infrequently nowadays, it’s becoming more and more commonplace to see movie experiences folded int short features to up-sell the hype of an upcoming film. Warner Bros. has decided to go full throttle on these experiences, and is working with IMAX to produce a series of high end ‘Justice League’ based features.
While we don’t know exactly what kind of virtual experiences the two companies are planning on showing off, IMAX did open its new IMAX VR muliplex theater just recently, which uses individual cubes along with various high-end headsets to give the public a glimpse into what virtual reality has become. Our very own Joshua Vergara went to check out this experience earlier this year, so make sure you take a peek at our video on that here.
It will be interesting to see how Warner Bros. decides to play its cards over the next couple of months. With Justice League releasing near the end of this year and many more films right around the corner, this could be a golden opportunity for both companies to show off some great exclusive VR content. But will it be a hit with fans? For that we will have to wait and see, but we can hope the nature of the technology draws many as physically possible to the experience.
