New “Ghostbusters: Dimension” trailer shows us the power of mixed reality experiences

Back in July, we checked out a new Ghostbusters experience created to highlight the upcoming film. While we are far past July at this point, the company in charge of the experience saw an incredible amount of success and fan appreciation from the game, and has opted to iterate upon it. Through a new trailer released by THE VOID (the company heading the project), players can get a get a new glimpse of exactly what the company has been working on for the last 3 months.

The trailer shows an incredible mixed reality experience, transforming the real world into a full-blown Ghostbusters movie set. THE VOID has crafted the available play area to be exactly the same shape as that in the title, meaning a wall in real life is a wall in the game. If you’ve ever played laser tag in a closed area before, it will likely be a similar experience to this.

Users also get to use the vests and proton blaster guns present in the films, making the experience all the more realistic. The company is going to the furthest measure to make sure users feel as immersed as possible, and that is extremely evident in the new trailer.

While you won’t easily be able to experience the game yourself, THE VOID has said that over 20,000 people have already taken part in the experience. If you find yourself in Madame Tussauds in New York, be sure to check it out.

Are you excited for hyper realistic VR experiences like this? We could see VR arcades popping up in the future that cater to these type of experiences, so be sure to let us know if you find one!
