New Half-Life: Alyx Mod Takes You to Nova Prospekt

Monomyth

The modding community around Half-Life 2 gave us some of the most popular mods ever created, including Garry’s Mod, Age of Chivalry, NeoTokyo, The Stanley Parable, Minerva: Metastasis, and many, many others.

Now, the modding community around Half-Life: Alyx seems to be following in its footsteps, releasing one attractive mod after another. The latest mod we want you to check out is Monomyth from developer Fabian Pachler.

Set in Nova Prospekt, an old run-down prison that was refurbished by the Combine for its nefarious purposes, the mod provides 45-60 minutes of atmospheric playtime as you become an unknown protagonist guided by a radio operator with intentions that are not quite clear to you.

What sets Monomyth apart from many other mods for Half-Life: Alyx is how professional it feels in every way, from its fully voiced dialogues to the numerous scripted action sequences.

To install Monomyth so that you can experience it yourself:

  1. Install the required items: Half-Life 2: Remade Assets Definitive Edition – Part 1, 2, and 3.
  2. Visit its Steam Workshop page and click Subscribe.
  3. Launch Half-Life: Alyx and turn on the mod and its dependencies.

The creator of this mod recommends new players to experience it on hard difficulty since that’s the difficult setting the game’s combat has been designed around.

Other noteworthy Half-Life: Alyx mods that all fans of Valve’s VR masterpiece should try include Return to Rapture, Gunman Contracts, and Mine Break, just to give a few examples.
