Confirmation that VR games will be the next big thing comes as Pool Nation is the first VR title to be listed as one of the 10 bestselling games on Steam. The game launched on the HTC Vive yesterday for a discounted price of $16.99/£12.74 and is already topping the charts despite actual sales figures not being available.
It is a great sign that a VR title can attract these sort of numbers to be able to hit Steams bestselling charts and hopefully will catch developers attention to entice them to into exploring the world of VR.
Not only this, but it seems that the HTC Vive user base is growing, with recent data suggesting around 50,000 Vive units were in the wild. The user base is already at a point that it can influence one of the top game distribution platforms on PC.
Pool Nation provides a full-sized to-scale room that allows you to walk around a virtual bar and utilise the Vive’s controllers to play pool and throw darts. It’s also a great way to hang out with friends in virtual reality, or you could be sociable and go to a real bar!
With more titles being lined up for HTC Vive and the user base continuing to grow, hopefully the platform can get the traction VR needs to attract even more developers to create immersive content.
