If you were skeptical about what virtual reality could offer or how it could enhance the viewer experience, then look no further than the Star Wars: Trails on Tatooine trailer. Industrial Light and Magic, the studio behind the special effects for the latest Star Wars movie, are taking the feature-rich HTC Vive and giving users a Star Wars experience like no other.
Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine features R2-D2, the Millennium Falcon, lightsabers, and a whole lot of action to bring the user a “cinematic virtual reality experiment”. The studio have utilised the Vive’s position-tracking mechanism to allow players to control the lightsabers during battle sequences, and this is coupled with an immersive story mode. The result? An incredible feature title that showcases just what the HTC Vive is capable of and how virtual reality fits into the world we know and enhance the experience from the movies we love.
