In less than a week, the current President of the United States, Barack Obama, will be leaving that position. He will also be departing from the President’s main residence, the White House in Washington DC. Today, Oculus has launched a preview of an upcoming full virtual reality tour of the White House as it looks while Obama is in office. Both the preview and the full version support the Samsung Gear VR and the Oculus Rift headsets.
The full experience is called “The People’s House: Inside the White House with Barack and Michelle Obama”. Today, you can download a free 360 degree video preview of the VR app where you will be able to see nine areas of the White House, through the eyes of President Obama and his wife Michelle. The full app will offer an even more immersive tour of the President’s home, and will even include areas like the Oval Office that are normally not open to the public.
There’s no word yet on when the full VR app will be released or how much it will cost. However, this is certainly the kind of virtual reality app we should see more of, as it offers a way to learn about and experience things that normally only a few folks get a chance to do in real life.
