It seems like Star Wars fever is always high this time of year, as Disney has decided to release a new Star Wars themed film every December. Although the upcoming Rogue One film isn’t directly related to the episodic Star Wars story-line, it has created a fair amount of excitement among fans of the series, who have been eager to get more information and backstories on the characters who fade into the background of the primary protagonists.
Just as Disney did last year, they have once again partnered with Google to produce a new set of Star Wars themed cardboard headsets to promote the new movie. Produced by WOW! Stuff and available to purchase at Tesco, fans will be able to choose from either an Imperial Death Trooper or K-2SO themed viewer to expereince all of their favorite Star Wars content in virtual reality. These headsets are compatible with Google’s Cardboard app as well as individual Star Wars VR applications on various app stores, so fans need not worry about compatibility.
While some viewers such as OnePlus’ LoopVR only allow for viewing of virtual content, the new Star Wars viewers include a button on the top to interact with various applications. Google’s own Cardboard app lets users experience various museums and landscapes through headsets such as these, so for those looking to get the full Cardboard experience, look no further.
The viewers also include a special QR code to help you calibrate your device to the headset, and will include a special Star Wars companion app as well. If you want to get your hands on one, they will be available from Tesco sometime in December for £15.99 a pop.
Are you looking to get your hands on one of these headsets? Exited for the new film? Let us know.
