The metaverse may still be in its infancy, but there are already a lot of interesting things that you can do in it, from purchasing virtual real estate to attending concerts and events to socializing with friends and strangers alike.

Now ADC, one of the leading cannabis distribution companies, has partnered with Alt Magic to expand what’s possible in the metaverse by creating a virtual cannabis store.

The store is created using WebXR, a group of standards that make immersive virtual environments more accessible, so it can be visited using all kinds of devices, including VR headsets, smartphones, tablets, and personal computers.

“It’s the first time that people on all major devices will be able to enter a cannabis store, pick up products, review ingredients, and make purchases from the Metaverse,” writes ADC in the official announcement.

The store was launched on April 20th, a day that’s widely considered to be an international weed holiday. Inside the metaverse store, visitors can make purchases, learn more about ADC’s wide selection of products, or just chat with others while smoking a virtual joint.

We visited the store ourselves and found it to be a nice—if rather rudimental—demonstration of what the metaverse is shaping up to be: a place for everyone and everything.

ADC is determined to keep making the cannabis industry more accessible, and it will soon launch live podcasts with many top cannabis experts and industry leaders. We don’t know whether the podcasts will be accessible from the metaverse store, so we have to wait and see.
