Rebellion Developments has announced that Sniper Elite VR will launch on July 8, 2021. The game will be available on PlayStation VR, Steam VR, Quest, and Rift. Along with the announcement, the game developer has released a new trailer that showcases of the gameplay.

Just like other titles in the series, Sniper Elite VR is a tactical shooter that emphasizes a less direct approach to combat. The biggest difference compared with its non-VR siblings is the switch from a third-person perspective to a first-person perspective.

As a player, you will be able to switch between full locomotion or single-stick teleportation, and the game will also support a host of comfort options to ensure not just great immersion but also long-term comfort.

“We’ve designed Sniper Elite VR from the ground up as a VR exclusive game that retains the authenticity that the title is famous for and delivers a new perspective on our critically acclaimed sniping and stealth mechanics,” states Steve Bristow, Assistant Head of Design at Rebellion. “The first and most important of these is the scope. The PlayStation VR Aim Controller really opened our eyes to how far we could go with the realism of using a sniper rifle.”

All loyal fans of the series will be happy to know that Sniper Elite VR will feature the iconic X-Ray cam, which renders particularly well-executed shots in all their gory glory, allowing you to see what happens when your bullet meets the enemy’s skin, bones, arteries, and internal organs.

The game is set in Southern Italy in the year 1943. You will get to experience a powerful story through the eyes of an Italian Partisan as you fight against Fascist forces that occupy your homeland over the course of an 18 mission campaign.
